Where Does Suzy's Bamboo come from?

Managed Forests throughout China

Suzy Bamboo only ulitilizes Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescens) which is the strongest bamboo species in China.

Of the four million hectares of regenerative and sustainable bamboo forests in China, Moso bamboo makes up more than 2.7 million hectares.

It is the main bamboo species for bamboo timber and bamboo shoot production and naturally plays a very important role in the ecological environment.

Since the eighteenth century, it has been exported to Japan, America, Australia and Europe.

How is Suzy Bamboo Made?

Production Cycle

Mature bamboo stocks are cut and harvested and all branches are removed

Fiber Stock provides machinery to local production crew to cut the raw bamboo timber into strips. Through this method, Fiber Stock is able to control the entire production process from Timber to Flooring

Strips are then sorted for color and quality and then put through a stripper which removes the green top-bark cover

 

 

The bamboo strips are then put into a boiling vat of solution to remove bug larvae and decrease the carbohydrates and sugars which will helps increase the longevity of the bamboo strip and internal cellular structure for flooring.

 

 

After Kiln Drying and Carbonization our highly trained grading staff sort the three shades of bamboo produced by Fiber Stock: light, medium, and dark

 

All Bamboo residue is utilized. chips, peelings and bamboo dust are utilized in our co-generation units to make power and steam to run drying kilns and other equipment


After drying the strips, they then go to the gluing plant where our environmentally-friendly E1 glue is applied at an automated gluing table for hydraulic compression and laminating.

After the glue is applied, the strips are hydraulically pressed in our laminating plant whereby steam pressure is applied to the heated steel press to ensure for maximum cohesion.

After the strips have been pressed and laminated they are then put in the Balancing Room where humidity and temperature are controlled. The glues and newly pressed material now bind for several days.

This is a very important step to ensure for a quality, straight finished product.

 

After being properly balanced the product is then moulded and end-matched.

One last grading, by our Quality Control Specialist, is required before the product is sent to the next location for sanding and pre-finishing.

 

At the finishing plant each piece is again checked to our exacting standards.

Our trained QC staff are consistently vigilant for any change in thickness or color

 

Graded and color coded flooring is loaded into sanding machines

Flooring is run through our finishing line 7 times to maximize top coat strength

UV light curing also is employed to maximize strength and hardness

Each board is again individually inspected at the packaging line before boxing.

Each row is individually wrapped and placed in a cardboard box and palletized on steel support pallets
